Whether married, in a registered partnership or in a civil partnership: at Profond, everyone is entitled to a spouse’s pension or partner’s pension. Learn more about the requirements.

Marriage and registered partnership

Persons living in a registered partnership are treated in the same way as married persons at Profond and have the same rights and obligations. Profond will be notified of the change in your marital status by your employer.

Civil partnership (cohabiting)

Persons living in a (non-registered) civil partnership are also entitled to a survivor’s pension at Profond. The same conditions and provisions apply as for the spouse’s pension.

Who is eligible?

Your partner is entitled to claim if you have notified us that they are a beneficiary and you have lived together continuously in a joint household and in a fixed and exclusive two-person relationship for at least five years at the time of death. Also eligible are life partners who pay for the maintenance of joint children. In this case, you do not have to have lived together for five years in a marriage-like relationship, but the notification of the partnership is a prerequisite.

Which conditions have to be met?
  • You and your life partner are unmarried and do not live in a registered partnership.
  • You have reported the partnership to us. The easiest way to do this is with the “Notification of cohabitation” form. After we have received your notification, we will send you a confirmation.  You can also draw up a will in which you designate the beneficiary. The will must contain an unequivocal reference to the occupational pension.
Important:
  • Report a new family situation immediately if you want to benefit your partner.
  • Also let us know the end of a partnership, so that we can update your information.
  • Also, when changing jobs, remember to report your partnership. The beneficiary status is not automatically passed on to the new insurance company.
