In the event of a change of job, Profond will transfer the termination benefit to your new pension fund. Or have you ended your employment relationship and are not starting a new job directly? Depending on the situation, you have different options for your occupational pension assets.

Change of job

In the event of a change of job, the employee usually joins the pension fund of the new employer. In this case, Profond transfers the termination benefit to the new pension fund.

Inform Profond of your new employer and the new pension fund using the form “Payment address for my termination benefits”. If available, enclose the payment slip of the new pension fund.

Job search or work interruption

Are you taking a break for an apprenticeship or a holiday? Or are you still looking for a job after termination? As soon as you have opened a vested benefits account or concluded a vested benefits policy, we will transfer your termination benefit.

  1. Vested benefits account: You can set up a “Vested benefits account 2nd pillar” at a Swiss bank of your choice. Please send Profond a copy of the opening application at the bank or the completed form “Payment address for the transfer of my termination benefit”.
  2. Vested benefits policy: Most Swiss insurance companies offer vested benefits policies. This allows you to insure yourself against the risks of disability and death. If you opt for a vested benefits policy, please send Profond a copy of the opening application to the insurance company or the form “Payment address for the transfer of my termination benefit”.

If we have not yet received any transfer information from you six months after your resignation, we will transfer your termination benefit (based on the Vested Benefits Act) to the following foundation:

BVG contingency fund
Vested benefits accounts
Mailbox
8050 Zurich

Important: After reaching the age of 58, it is only possible to transfer the termination benefit to a vested benefits account if you continue to work or are registered as unemployed. Otherwise, the pension case of age (retirement) occurs and we pay out your retirement benefits (pension or lump sum).

Voluntary continued insurance after a termination

For insured persons leaving, there are also the following options for voluntary continued insurance.

  • External membership: Insured persons, regardless of their age, can voluntarily continue their pension provision if they have terminated the employment relationship with the employer and were fully able to work at that time. If you would like to use such an external membership, we ask you to inform us of this before the termination of the employment relationship.
  • Continuation of insurance after the age of 58: If the employment relationship is terminated by the employer, insured persons aged 58 and over residing in Switzerland can request the continuation of the insurance until their normal retirement. If you would like to continue your insurance to the same extent as before, please notify us before the end of the employment relationship.

Unpaid leave

If you take unpaid leave, your insurance cover will not be continued automatically. Therefore, before going on unpaid leave, consider the extent to which you would like to maintain your insurance coverage.

Profond offers the following options:
  • Continued savings and risk insurance: Your retirement assets will continue to grow during unpaid leave. And your protection in the event of disability or death remains unchanged.
  • Continued risk insurance: If your risk insurance is continued, this protection remains in place in the event of disability or death. The interruption to your savings insurance may lead to gaps in your occupational benefits. You can close these by making a later purchase into your pension fund.
  • Interruption of all insurance: During unpaid leave, there is no protection in the event of disability or death. Your retirement assets will not continue to grow during this time. You can close any gaps with a later purchase into your pension fund.
Contributions

Normally, as an insured person, you pay both your own contributions and those of your employer, as well as the administrative expenses. However, your employer may voluntarily participate in this financing.
