At the annual general meeting on 24 June 2025 at the Spirgarten Theatre in Zurich, Profond looked back on a successful year. Chair of the Foundation Board Peter E. Bodmer, Managing Director Laurent Schlaefli and Andreas Häberli, Chief Investment Officer, gave guests a detailed insight into the past financial year, the investment strategy and the future orientation of Profond.

Review and outlook

The 2024 financial year featured qualitative growth, a total return of 9.8% and a high interest rate of 8%. With this interest rate, which is far above average, Profond distributed CHF 500 million to the insured, as Laurent Schlaefli pointed out in his retrospective. Guests also learned more about the following topics:

  • The annual review and annual financial statements for 2024
  • Further development of the investment strategy
  • Progress on sustainability (since 2021, Profond has reduced its carbon footprint by 60 per cent)
  • Growth (strengthening its structure and remediation capability)
  • The strategic focus for 2025
  • Ensuring financial stability

Keynote speech by Dr. Veronica Weisser

Afterwards, guests looked forward to the keynote speech “Swiss occupational benefits – what’s next?” by Dr. Veronica Weisser, economist and pension expert and Head of the UBS Pension Innovation Hub. This showed how demography limits policy’s capacity to act and how deeply entrenched narratives also shape society’s understanding of occupational benefits.

During the following get-together with drinks and snacks, there was plenty of time for discussions, questions and an informal exchange.

We thank everyone for attending and look forward to the next annual general meeting on 23 June 2026.
